Well, let me tell ya, there’s been a lot of talk ’bout this “Kinetic Flayer” thing, and I reckon it’s time we clear some things up, especially when it comes to melee hits. Now, I ain’t no fancy scholar, but I do know a thing or two ’bout hittin’ things and how these fancy abilities work. So, let’s get down to it, nice and simple.

First off, Kinetic Flayer is somethin’ you get at level 25. It’s a special little perk that gives ya a 10% chance to trigger somethin’ called “Brain Burst” when ya hit an enemy with a regular ol’ attack. Now, don’t go expectin’ it to happen every time. It’s got a bit of a cooldown, and it ain’t gonna trigger if yer Peril meter’s all the way up. That means, if yer in a real tight spot, it’s not gonna work. But for the most part, it sure can be handy when you need it.

Now, as for melee… I know it’s easy to get confused when you’re right in the thick of it. Melee combat’s fast and furious, and it’s hard to notice when somethin’ like this happens. But I’ll tell ya, it does trigger even if you don’t see it right away. If you’re swingin’ something like a Force Sword, sometimes that big ol’ charge can make it hard to notice. But if you’re using a quicker weapon, like the Dueling Sword, it’s a bit easier to spot. Faster weapons hit more often, so there’s a better chance for it to trigger that 10% chance to apply the Brain Burst effect.

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that this Kinetic Flayer is real handy when you’re up against stronger enemies like the Specials, Elites, or Monstrosities. The talent says that all attacks against these big fellas have a 10% chance to trigger the Brain Rupture effect. But, and here’s the kicker, this ain’t gonna work when your Peril’s too high, so you gotta keep an eye on that meter!

Some folks been testin’ out all sorts of combinations, and it turns out that weapons which hit real fast, like those guns used by psykers, are great for triggering the Kinetic Flayer often. They’re fast, they deal lots of little hits, and with that 10% chance, you’re bound to see that Brain Burst pop up more frequently. Melee’s a bit trickier, but if you keep swingin’, you’ll get there.

When you’re lookin’ to get Kinetic Flayer proccin’ as much as possible, the best way to go about it is to use a mix of different weapons. For big, weak melee hordes, a chainsaw’s just the ticket. It’ll tear through ’em real quick and give you plenty of chances for the Flayer to trigger. But when you’re up against a lone target, like a boss or something, stick with a fast gun. You’ll get more chances to proc that Brain Burst and hit ’em hard.

Now, don’t go thinkin’ this is all about just swingin’ and shootin’ though. If you wanna make sure Kinetic Flayer triggers more often, you can stack up on some cooldown reductions. That way, you can keep that Telekine Shield up and keep attacking without stoppin’. And remember, if your Peril’s too high, you won’t get no Brain Burst, so try and keep that meter in check.

All in all, Kinetic Flayer’s a real useful ability if ya know how to use it right. It ain’t gonna do much if yer Peril’s high or you’re missin’ a bunch, but if you keep at it with the right weapons and keep an eye on that Peril meter, you’ll get plenty of good use outta it. Whether you’re up close in melee or at a distance with a gun, you can count on this little perk to make things easier when you need it the most.
