Well, now, let me tell ya, this “Boon of Bhaal” thing ain’t somethin’ you just take lightly. I reckon it sounds like one of them fancy, devilish offers you’d hear about in them big city tales, but trust me, it’s a real bad idea for most folks. Ya see, if you decide to take this here “Boon” from Bhaal, it might seem like you’re gettin’ some kinda big ol’ power up. But ain’t all that glitter turns to gold, as they say.
Now, if you take this so-called gift from Bhaal, you get a couple of things, like Power Word: Kill and that fancy Slayer Form. Sounds like it could do some real damage, right? Well, it does, but not without consequences. Y’all might think you’re all high and mighty, but you’re gonna make some folks real mad, like Jaheira and Minsc. They ain’t gonna like it one bit, seein’ as they fought against Bhaal’s forces in the past. So, taking Bhaal’s gift might leave you with a lot of power, but also a lot of enemies. Now, I don’t know about you, but I prefer not makin’ enemies where I can help it.
If you go ahead and take Bhaal’s offer after you beat Orin in that duel, well, that’s where things get real murky. See, you either end up takin’ control of the Netherbrain for Bhaal, or you destroy it, and Bhaal will turn ya into a full-blown murderin’ machine. In fact, by the time the story’s done, you might find yourself killin’ every last soul in your camp. Ain’t that somethin’?
Now, don’t be thinkin’ this Boon of Bhaal thing is all about power and glory, though. I reckon it’s more like a curse if you ask me. Sure, you might get some fancy magic and stronger abilities, but at what cost? You’ll be stuck with that evil curse clingin’ to ya, and there ain’t no easy way to shake it off. And let me tell ya, the more you embrace it, the darker you get. It’s like takin’ a slippery slope right down into the depths of darkness.
On the flip side, if you choose to reject Bhaal’s offer, things may not be as flashy, but I tell ya, it might just feel better in the end. Sometimes, doin’ the right thing feels a lot more rewardin’ than chasin’ after power. Especially for a character lookin’ for redemption, like the Dark Urge. It’s like takin’ a long, hard road back to bein’ the person you once were, instead of fallin’ deeper into the muck. Ya might not get all them fancy spells, but you’ll have somethin’ more important: peace of mind.
As for Orin, she’s the one leadin’ them cultists, and she ain’t an easy one to deal with. She’s got them unstoppable buffs that make her hard to take down. A lot of people swear by magic like Magic Missile when goin’ up against her, ’cause even though it don’t do a whole lotta damage, it keeps hittin’ her, which can take away her Unstoppable boon. Now, you might wanna consider that when you’re thinkin’ about how to beat her. Not all spells are made equal, ya know?
But if ya don’t know it yet, let me tell ya, the Boon of Bhaal has some nasty tricks up its sleeve. When you’re in a fight, especially against Orin, this Boon can bring in a legendary action called Bhaal’s Edict. That’s some real nasty business, where if Orin ain’t usin’ her Sanguine Lash—y’know, when no one’s hittin’ her with melee attacks—then Bhaal’s Edict comes into play. That’s just one more way this whole thing gets messier.
So, at the end of the day, if you’re thinkin’ about the Boon of Bhaal, you’d better be ready for some real tough choices. It might seem like a shortcut to power, but sometimes, the price of that power is way higher than you might be willin’ to pay. You might end up losin’ more than you ever thought you could.
