Well, ain’t that somethin’, talkin’ about them games on that Genesis thingy. My grandkids, they love them games, always tappin’ away on them little buttons. So this Genesis, it got ports, you say? Ports like where ships come in? Ha, guess not.
So, ports, they be like puttin’ games from somethin’ else onto this Genesis. Like takin’ somethin’ from one basket and puttin’ it in another. They say some folks be doin’ this homebrew stuff. Makin’ games outta thin air, like magic! I reckon that’s hard work, sittin’ there, tappin’ away. But they say some fella made a whole list of them homebrew games. Can ya believe it? A whole list! My grocery list ain’t never that long.
Then there’s this Tengen, they be makin’ games too. They put somethin’ called Paperboy on the Genesis. My boy, he used to deliver papers, throw ’em right on the porch, most of the time. This Paperboy game, they say it’s good. Guess you throw papers in the game too. Ain’t that somethin’? Makin’ a game outta throwin’ papers.
Heard some talk about puttin’ CD stuff into these Genesis games. Like stuffin’ a turkey with bread and such. They call it patchin’. Don’t know what that means, but sounds fancy. My old quilt needed patchin’, but that’s a different kind, I reckon.
And this SNK, they got somethin’ called MVS, AES, and CD. Sounds like alphabet soup to me. They say it ain’t ports though. Just more games, I guess. Too many games if you ask me. Back in my day, we played outside, runnin’ around, gettin’ dirty.
- Lots of games be gettin’ ported to different things. Like jumpin’ from one train to another. Folks be askin’ which one is best. Like askin’ which pie is best, apple or cherry. All depends on what you like, I reckon.
- One game, called RBFFS, somethin’ like that. It got different music on Genesis. Music be important, like the singin’ in church. Changes the whole feel of things. This game, it got scratchy voices too. Like a bad record player. And less colors. Like paintin’ a picture with only a few crayons.
Way back when, they started puttin’ this Genesis on the internet. Like talkin’ on the telephone, but with pictures I guess. They called it Meganet. Had to use a cartridge and a modem thingy. Modem sounds like modern, so I guess it was fancy stuff.
So, these ports, they be bringin’ games to this Genesis. Some be old, some be new, some be made outta thin air. Just like my quilt, all patched together with different pieces. But it keeps ya warm, just like these games keep the young’uns entertained. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it?
Don’t know much about this computer stuff, but I know what I see. Kids tappin’ away, happy as clams. And that Genesis, with all them ports, it be keepin’ ’em busy. Just like a good story keeps me busy. So let ’em play, I say. Let ’em play them games.
